  4. The U.N. ousts Belgrade to stiffen its demands for peace in
  5. Bosnia
  6.

  8.     Only two republics -- Serbia and Montenegro -- remain in what
  9. Belgrade continues to call Yugoslavia, and the U.N. General
  10. Assembly is having none of it. The Assembly voted 127 to 6 to
  11. oust the truncated federation. In order to reclaim U.N.
  12. membership, it will have to reapply as a new nation and gain
  13. approval from the Security Council. And to do that, so-called
  14. Yugoslavia will have to prove it has stopped supporting Serbian
  15. militias in Bosnia and is working to restore peace.

  17.     Before the vote, Yugoslav Prime Minister Milan Panic had
  18. asked the Assembly to hold off the expulsion to give him some
  19. leverage in his power struggle with "militant nationalists" in
  20. Belgrade. Diplomats said they accepted Panic's good intentions
  21. but doubted his ability to deliver.

  23.     Fighting continued in Bosnia, and a badly shaken young
  24. Muslim man told correspondents in Zagreb that he had survived
  25. a massacre of more than 200 Muslims by Serbs on Aug. 21.
